It Seems Solid!
In 2019, a time before the great staycation, before the lockdown and before the massive increase in camper van prices, I found and ideal Mazda Bongo. The Bongo is a vehicle I’ve been after for a long time and this one came up at a price I just couldn’t pass up!
Very basic and unconverted, it was a great blank canvas. I knew it would need some work in time, but it was a good starter
It seems solid, seems being the key word, but under the plastic trims and not so shiny paintwork, something loomed and it wasn’t solid metal! Rust, the Bongo’s arch nemesis.

Taking the van off the road gave me the opportunity to properly dig into where the issues were and there were a lot! patches require to the rear cross member, front full cross member, full new cills inner and outer, new rear wheel arches, new front wings new surround above the windscreen and various other areas, the list went on and on, but eventually it was done.

Throw on an at home spray job but never get round to cutting and polishing it and its done, a workhorse that just goes and works for what I need.

These are the ramblings and voyages of one man and his Bongo!
